A Game engine in C – permafrost
It just shows what you can do in 38,000 lines of code. Permafrost Engine is an OpenGL 3.3 Real Time Strategy game engine written in C. The image is from the game Everglory.
You need SDL 2 plus a few other dependencies listed on the site to build the engine. It’s also cross-platform.
